I am writing to urge you to resist any efforts to raise taxes in Nevada, especially given the recent budget surplus. I believe that a balanced budget and responsible fiscal policy are essential to our state's economic growth and prosperity. Further, I believe that raising taxes is not the answer to Nevada's budgetary challenges, particularly in light of the current economic conditions.
Nevada has recently experienced a budget surplus, which is a testament to our state's economic resilience and the hard work of our businesses and citizens. This
surplus should be used to support essential services, invest in our infrastructure, and promote economic growth. I urge you to consider using the surplus to shore up our rainy day fund and pay down our PERS debt, both of which are essential to our state's long-term financial stability.
Inflation is currently a concern for our economy, and raising taxes could exacerbate the problem by increasing the cost of goods and services for consumers. Additionally, a potential recession could be looming, and higher taxes would only serve to further harm businesses and individuals who are already struggling.
I appreciate your attention to this issue and urge you to consider the impact that higher taxes could have on Nevada's economy and its citizens.
Thank you for your service to our state.
